Cat, Mary May, & Sierra’s Portraits in the City
Wow, HUGE thanks to Cat, Mary May, and Sierra for being such fun models for this shoot I had been dreaming of for so long!!!
Ever since I moved to Boston, I’d been thinking of doing a shoot at night in the city. One of the many perks of being walking distance from the action is that vibrant photoshoot backgrounds are constantly at my reach!
I asked Cat, Mary May, and Sierra literally one day before this if they were up for a little adventure, and I am so glad they all said yes! We first went to the crosswalk near our dorms and took a few shots by a mailbox on the corner. Next, we walked down to an abandoned gas station down the street! I’ve passed it a million times on my way to Target, but had never shot there before. I am so glad we did. My passion for abandoned places is inescapable :) We did a few more shots in the street and experimented with my Godox V1 flash, then said “F— it, let’s go to Target even though they’re closing in 30 minutes!” Surprisinly, we did not get kicked out (lol) and we took (my personal favorite) photos by the escalator at the end. Mary May found a stuffed unicorn that perfectly matched her dress for those shots! We finished just in time. 10 minutes before closing time.
I got to try so many new Photoshop techniques with the photos I got on this day! Finally tried my hand at dodging and burning, and I am very happy with the results :-) I also did a few subtle sky replacements and emulated a bit of a vintage film look for some of the abandoned gas station photos.
