“i am complete, but not finished.”

Before the hectic energy of the new semester fully sets in, I thought I’d share my photography project from the fall semester. The class was “Art of the Open Road,” where we learned to look at our metaphorical “road trip” through the (literal and figurative lol) lens of freedom. For me, my road trip was about finding freedom in both solitude and the company of others, all while accepting impermanence.

This was my artist statement:

❝So much exists within the walls of these photographs — My dreams, my desires, and my fears, among other unspoken truths, all exist in this tiny photographic corner of my universe. One of those truths, unvoiced until now, is that I don’t dwell as much over where I’m headed anymore.

“I’m riding that wave,” I often say. I think that perfectly encapsulates my metaphorical road trip late August through early December 2021. Giving myself permission to just feel, whether I’m desperate to find answers in murky waters or brimming with joy, has been the key to knowing I’m enough. I’m discovering comfort in impermanence. I’m learning to rejoice in the turbulent tides that come and go without remorse, no longer exaggerating the life I used to know.

I am complete, but I’m not finished.❞

This was a very vulnerable project, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to create and share more about myself (-: If you made it to the end, thank you for reading!
