Creating a Safe Space

I have nothing but good things to say about Jaden 🧡 She is so kind and perceptive. Her senior session was a sweet reminder of why I love doing this kind of work (that honestly doesn’t feel like work at all)!

We talked a lot about what it means to create a safe space. Being in front of the camera can be a vulnerable experience, which is why I’m always trying to cultivate a safe space between me and the wonderful people who trust me to document their milestones. This means guiding them through the session, but also gauging their energy and personality. Being open to their ideas or preferences for the session is also so important. After all, these sessions are for the seniors, not me :)

Seriously— I left this session feeling super grateful and inspired. And of course SO excited about all the beautiful pictures we made with the vibrant foliage (that happened to match Jaden’s hair and outfits perfectly) 🍂
