I had the opportunity to meet Blu DeTiger and photograph her show at The Sinclair in Cambridge as part of her “All I Ever Want Is...” tour! I also took photos of the merch table and pre-show meet & greet, which is something I don’t typically get to do at live music events.
A highlight was connecting with her tour photographer Sophie Gurwitz, who gave me tips on how to approach new venues and valuable insight into the industry. Thanks, Sophie!
And of course, a huge thank you to Laura Nicaise and Katie Myers at Amplify Her Voice for recognizing my skill and potential! Thanks to opportunities like Equal Exposure, I feel that my confidence and knowledge of live shows have increased exponentially this year. Anyone can take a photo that’s pleasing to the eye, but the real challenge is crafting something that makes people feel. That’s one of my main goals in live music photography. It’s all about anticipating the most unique moments, and being able to compose a scene in a way that reflects the feeling of being present at that show — all under constantly fluctuating lighting, moving subjects, and unpredictable crowds. It’s not easy, but that’s exactly the kind of environment that lights up my brain and pushes me to grow.
Can’t wait to cover more live shows this year and continue making connections in the industry 🤘🏽🎸
